Our aim is to act as an advocate, research and resource centre – an environmental educator to enable and encourage broad community involvement and goodwill in protecting Manly’s unique environment.
Nestled into the southern tip of the Northern Beaches peninsula Manly is a special place for those who visit and those lucky enough to live here. Almost entirely surrounded by water, Manly has every kind of water habitat; ocean surf, ocean coves, harbour, a lagoon, creeks, waterfalls, a dam, wetlands, mangroves and seagrass. All of our harbour and ocean shorelines are listed on the National Estate. Manly has the only Aquatic Reserve and Ecologically Sensitive Area in Sydney Harbour and is surrounded by three National Parks at North Head, Dobroyd and Bantry Bay. In the 'reef in our backyard', Cabbage Tree Bay, snorkel or dive and search out four out of the eleven protected species of fish in NSW, including the Weedy Sea Dragon.
At North Head, over 586 different species of flora can be found throughout the year - more than the whole of Great Britain! Discover Aboriginal rock engravings on walks from Manly to the Spit, around Dobroyd and Bantry Bay.
