Volunteering: What it means...

M.E.C offers a variety of internal, external and project opportunities for volunteers. You will gain an understanding and working knowledge of:

Local environmental issues;
Management and administration;
Current resources/information; and
Environmental impact statements

Your input is valuable in allowing MEC to function on a long-term basis. Your skills, time and knowledge are greatly appreciated by all members of staff and assist us in working towards our mission.

Volunteer Activities

Database Administrator	Produce an online catalogue for our document library in the shop Maintain a searchable index on the web site
Data Entry	all resources from registration folder enter new brochures as we receive them enter backlog of resources start volunteer, staff, enviro groups etc databases
Desktop Publishing
Display Coordinator/Visual Merchandiser	Visual displays for the centre.
Environmental Resource Assistant	Register resources on a daily basis Add brochure to the stands Update keywords into subsections
Environmental Resource Coordinator	Coordinate and assist the registration of our resources
Handy Person	Help out with odd jobs around the centre
Human Resources	Clarify all volunteer positions Type up job specifications Ring volunteer organisations and fax descriptions Assist interviewing of volunteers
Marketing/Sponsorship Officer	Assist the director with marketing approaches and coordinate a marketing plan for the MEC
Reception/Administration Assistant	Answer the phone Organise newspaper clippings Phone for new brochures File any resources Distribute mail
Water Quality Testing Assistant	Learn the process of water quality testing
Website Updating	Update this website regularly
