Join us for a fun and informative day at Sydney’s only ‘No Take Aquatic Reserve’. The Manly Environment Centre is inviting children, parents and friends to Shelly Beach on Sunday, April 21st, 10.00am - 4.00pm to celebrate our marine environment in Cabbage Tree Bay No Take Aquatic Reserve. The launch will start with a smoking ceremony. Budding artists can create a poster portraying the colourful marine life of Cabbage Tree Bay. Join in on guided walks, marine talks, snorkelling tours, ‘Splash for Species’ (BYO snorkel and mask), Stand up Paddle and live music. Become ‘A Friend of Cabbage Tree Bay’ or join up to volunteer. Two Hands Project will run a quick beach cleanup with a chance to win a double Kayak Hire.

Nominate your Unsung Hero for the 2013 Eco Award
Do you know someone who is working hard to protect Manly’s unique natural environment?
“Now in its eigth year, the ‘Manly Environment Centre Eco Award’ is presented in recognition of contributions to the conservation of Manly’s environment,” said Manly Mayor Jean Hay.
“Nominations are sought on behalf of members of the community who have volunteered their time and efforts to benefit Manly’s diverse and valuable natural habitat."
The award is open to people from all walks of life. Nominees must be over 18 years of age.
The recipient of the award will receive an original artwork as well as public recognition for their work and achievements.
“Nominate your ‘Unsung Hero’ - an ordinary person doing extraordinary things,” said Cllr Hay.
The Manly Environment Centre will host the 19th Ocean Care Day Festival, a free fun community event on Manly's spectacular surf beach.

Sunday’s Bike Life Festival attracted a colourful crowd of cyclists and cycling enthusiasts as part of Manly Council and the Manly Environment Centre’s program of activities celebrating Bike Week.
